Our loyal Vault Hunters are already well aware of this, but for anyone who’s new here – when we love something here at Indy Metal Vault, we’re not shy about letting people know. And around these parts, we love Louisville’s Stonecutters. They’re killer musicians, rad dudes, and one of the best live bands on the planet. I’ve made this analogy before, and I’ll continue to make it every time I write about this band: I get the same feeling watching guitarists Brian Omer and Nick Burks interact on stage as I got watching Pete Adams and John Baizley of Baroness together – the only way to describe it is unbridled joy. The hour that Brian, Nick, bassist Kevin Redford, and drummer Johnny Wooldridge are on stage each night is pretty obviously the best hour of their day. But what about the rest of the time?
Well…I’m glad you asked. Stonecutters are about to head out on a run of southern dates, and Nick Burks–who has contributed to articles for us before–will be keeping a tour diary for IMV over the course of the 10-date run, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Well, I take that back – I’d be more thrilled if I lived on one of the cities they’re hitting on this run, because I have a feeling they’ll be debuting material from their forthcoming, as-yet-untitled fifth full-length, which they put the finishing touches on just last week.
But enough of my rambling on. Here are a few words from the man himself:
“Hello Indy Metal Vault readers,
It’s Nick Burks from the band Stonecutters. We are hitting the road this March and I wanted to show you creeps what’s it like to be in a touring heavy metal band. You’ll get to learn about what I do the other twenty-three hours I’m not on stage. Spoiler alert: it’s looking at dank memes in a van.”
In other words: GET FUCKING EXCITED. Tour dates are below.
