If I were to name the most exciting metal act to come out of Iowa, it wouldn’t be the one you’re probably thinking of. It would without a doubt be Green Death. The band’s mantra is that they’re “so underground, you’ll need a shovel”! However, the Des Moines-based five piece has been gaining more and more traction with each passing release, so perhaps they’re a little closer to the surface than they once were. Their blend of death, thrash, doom and traditional metal has been refined across three EPs and two full-length albums, and they sound better than ever on LP number three, Hallowmass.
Drawing influence from acts such as King Diamond, Paradise Lost, Death and Judas Priest, as well as taking lyrical inspiration from authors like H.P. Lovecraft, the band’s upcoming album Hallowmass is sure to please fans both old and new. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to share an early look at one of the album’s catchiest tunes, “I Am Eternal” with our loyal Vault Hunters today. Alternating between aggressive thrash and melodic classic metal riffs, the whole song smacks of sinister intent. There’s a serious old-school horror film vibe going on here, and if you’re one of the nearly nine thousand people who follow the band’s Instagram account, you’d know that this is no accident; these guys know their shit when it comes to classic horror!
If this sounds exciting to you (and it should), you can stream “I Am Eternal” below, and preorder Hallowmass here.
