Post-Metal powerhouse Tool brought their fall tour to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. Saturday night. Strict rules applied for the evening as a “No Cameras/Video” policy was being enforced by request of the band. Signs were posted throughout the venue while several announcements were made over the PA system warning fans of the evening’s policy, and the packed house seemed to abide. It had been 13 years since Tool had released new music and toured behind the album. You could feel the anticipation in the air as fans young and old filled the fieldhouse to the rafters.
Kicking off the evening festivities was English rock band, Killing Joke, featuring all four original members Jaz Coleman (vocals), Geordie Walker (guitar), Youth (bass), and Paul Ferguson (drums). A key influencer to the industrial rock scene, Killing Joke inspired such groups as Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and Ministry (to name a few) and on Saturday evening showed the crowd exactly how to get it done; setting the mood for what was to come.
After a couple more announcements concerning the evening’s policy of “No Cameras/Videos,” drummer Danny Carey (wearing an Indiana Pacers jersey) took the stage followed by bassist Justin Chancellor and guitarist Adam Jones. Starting into the title track of the new album, Fear Inoculum, singer Maynard James Keenan joined the stage, and the band proceeded to take the fans on a musical and visual journey into the mind and machine of Tool.
The tour continues through November with select dates across the U.S. and Canada. This is one you will definitely want to buy the ticket. Clickhere to check the band’s website for a show near you, and while there, be sure to join the Tool Army for cool swag and the latest updates.
